The arrivals of fresh 2020 crop Ethiopian coffee provides an update to our go-to espresso blend. The update adds an Ethiopian natural from Bale Mountain farm, owned and run by Israel Degfa. This joins the existing Brazilian natural from Fazenda Gramado. The owner of Fazenda Gramado, Adonis Cerri, runs the local cooperative Divinolandia which aims to promote regional quality. Bale Mountain farm sits in the Arsi-Bale Mountain belt, which form the southeastern Ethiopian highlands. Sitting at 2000masl, the farm is protected by tree shades, which have a high role in water conservation and soil enrichment. The owner, Israel, is heavily involved in the local community; helping build schools, seedling nursery establishments for farmers and financial support. This pairing creates a fantastic blend for your favourite espresso-based drinks. Initially raspberry and peach dominate the cup, bringing a juicy acidity and delicate sweetness. As the cup cools, a honey element takes over, providing sweetness and body. This transcends into milk chocolate, with a roasted pecan note lingering on the tongue to finish.
