Located just south of the Rwandan border, the Kiririma Washing Station sits at 1700masl. In operation since 1986, Kiririma W.S process the harvests of roughly 1250 smallholder produces who live and farm in the surrounding area. The altitude, the rich volcanic soil of the area and the careful supervision of manager Jevenal Ntirampeba leads to the station producing excellent quality coffee; having placed in high positions in Burundi's cup of excellence across the years. In addition to growing coffee, smallholder producers also rely on the farming of other crops to for local sale to increase their financial incomings, making the most from their small half hectare plots of land.

This microlot from Kiririma portrays the sweet, clean and fruity profile we love about coffees from Burundi. A tropical sweetness fills the fragrance and aroma of this coffee, with an underlying toffee note creeping in. The cup is full of mango, pineapple, melon and papaya, all bringing a balance of acidity and sweetness, reminiscent of a tropical popiscle, with a sticky cane sugar body. A zesty, lime acidity jumps out of the cup as it cools. A longing element of Benedictine concludes the coffee; that classic herbal finish present in washed Burundi coffees
