Buena Vista is a small, well maintained 4-hectare property sitting at 1750masl in Pitalito, located in the south of Huila. Owned and run by Edier Perdomo and his wife, with Edier's extended family also owning the neighbouring farm. Edier is a Q-Grader, which is rare for a producer. This allows him to critically taste and analyse his own production, seeing how the techniques he applies affect the cup and changes that need to be made for the future. On-site, Edier also has a wet mill and drying facility, where he can oversee the processing stage himself. This lot is a mix of Bourbon varieties, being pink, red and striped. Striped Bourbon is a natural mutation of the common Bourbon variety. Bourbon varieties are known for their excellent cup quality, especially at higher altitudes. You can definitely see this in this lot from Edier, alongside the attention to detail he puts in. This lot was sourced by Osito, who has been working closely with Edier during the pandemic. We're getting a cup full of sweet tropical fruit. A tropical medley fills the aroma; honeydew melon, mango and papaya all jump out. These tropical notes provide a juicy sweetness in the cup, with green apple providing a crisp acidity. A caramel note adds further sweetness, with floral notes ending the cup and lingering on the palate.
