Misspent Youth currently consists of two naturals, a Brazilian Yellow Icatu from Fazenda Irubi and an Ethiopian from producer Basha Bekele. Fazenda Irubi is one of two farms owned by Paulo Scanavachi, who runs them alongside his daughter Ana Paula. Paulo and Ana are the next generation in a long line of coffee producers. Basha Bekele owns a 3 hectare farm in the village of Bombe, Bensa district in southern Ethiopia. Basha runs the farm alongside his wife and children.
Both components of this blend are naturally processed coffees. Whole cherries are dried either on raised beds or patios in thin layers. Constant turning of the cherries is required to ensure even drying and to prevent the occurrence of defects.
The Brazilian lot from Fazenda Irubi was sourced by Kamba Coffee. Basha Bekele’s lot was sourced by Falcon Specialty.
