Our go-to blend for espresso based drinks! Misspent Youth currently consists of two naturals, a Brazilian Yellow Icatu from Fazenda Gramado and a Rwandan Red Bourbon 'Gito' blend from a collection of washing stations in Nyamasheke. The owner of Fazenda Gramado, Adonis Cerri, runs the local cooperative Divinolandia which aims to promote regional quality. The Rwandan element is a 'Gito' mix of Red Bourbon processed at three different washing stations: Kilimbi, Rugali and Gisheke, all owned and run by the Muraho Trading Company. Gito translates as tiny in the local dialect, Kinyarwandan. These small beans are screen sizes 13 and 14; screen sizes that is often separated at the dry mill and not sold as specialty coffee. Through the sale of these screen sizes, producers can earn extra income from a product that's normal sold as commodity or in origin. This pairing creates a fantastic blend for your favourite espresso-based drinks. Initially red berry, plum and peach dominate the cup, bringing a juicy acidity and delicate sweetness. As the cup cools, a cotton candy element takes over, providing sweetness and body. This transcends into milk chocolate, with a roasted pecan note lingering on the tongue to finish.
