With a new crop year for Brazil bringing a fresh harvest, it is time to update our go-to espresso blend. The update adds a Brazilian natural from Fazenda Gramado to the Ethiopian natural from producer Nuguse Mare. The owner of Fazenda Gramado, Adonis Cerri, runs the local cooperative Divinolandia which aims to promote regional quality. Nuguse Mare owns a small 10 hectare farm in the Sidama region of Southern Ethiopia. 2019 was his first year exporting directly, following changes in the Ethiopian export law. All coffee grown by Nuguse is processed and dried at his family home.
This pairing creates a fantastic blend for your favourite espresso-based drinks. An initial burst of blueberry jumps from the cup, bringing a juicy sweetness and delicate acidity. This transcends into a thick, creamy mouthfeel, with milk chocolate and roasted pecans coming from the Brazilian to round off the cup.
