Fazenda Irubi sits in the state of Minas Gerais, near the city of Guape. It is one of two farms owned and run by the Scanavachi; the other is in the neighbouring state of Sao Paulo. Paulo Scanavachi runs Fazenda Irubi, which is a relatively small sized farm for the region, spread out across uneven terrain. His daughter, Ana Paula, helps run the farms as well. The family comes from a long line of coffee producers, and this tradition is set to continue with Ana as the next generation.
This lot from Fazenda Irubi was naturally processed. Whole cherries are dried either on raised beds or patios in thin layers. Constant turning of the cherries is required to ensure even drying and to prevent the occurrence of defects.
The Brazilian lot from Fazenda Irubi was sourced by Kamba Coffee. The general manager of Kamba is a close school friend of Ana Paula Scanavachi.
